In an earlier version of the script, there was a female character called Victoria who was Nicholas’ love interest and sounding board during these intimate conversations that reveal more about his history and motivations. Victoria was eventually removed from the script and large chunks of her dialogue given directly, without alteration, to Danny.

Ergo, Danny is Nicholas’ love interest.

We all have our house-hunting horror stories. A “cozy loft apartment” that turned out to be a closet with a mattress on the floor. Creepy landlords. That weird roommate who wanted you to be his supervillain arch-nemesis.
